'Never underestimate the power of a sketchbook'

Sarah considers her sketchbooks and study pages to be one of the most important tools of her trade - alongside good quality drawing and painting materials.

​

They really are windows in to the mind as well as a place to explore ideas, composition and try out techniques.

Not every page is developed into a painting and the sketchbooks are also used as a teaching resource.

​

Sketches are often started in the field, drawing and making colour notes from life, then completed in the studio.
